How can I stop hair loss and test for hormonal imbalance?

I am 21 year old male and my hairline is declining from front and middle. I often smoke. I have used onion oil for months and got good results but after sometimes my hairs started falling out again. How should I stop my hair from falling out and what tests should I prefer to know its hormonal or not ??
