Why Are My Periods Lasting Longer?

Patient's Query

I'm scared I don't know what might be the cause of my periods to last longer So what should I do to stop them

Answered by Dr. Swapna Chekuri

It's understandable to feel concerned about longer menstrual cycles. Changes can occur due to various factors, including hormonal imbalances, stress, or underlying health issues like fibroids or polyps. Symptoms to watch for include heavy bleeding, severe pain, or unusual discharge. To address this, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, managing stress, and tracking your cycles can be beneficial. However, it's crucial to consult a gynecologist for a personalized assessment and proper guidance. They can provide a thorough evaluation and recommend effective treatment options.

Hello, I am a 25-year-old girl who is sexually active. I've experienced discomfort in my pubic bone since March and no other symptoms. The pain was intermittent. Now, pain is uncommon, but I have strange sensations within my vagina and discomfort when sitting. I had a urine culture, which was sterile, as well as a vdrl and an HIV test, both of which were normal. Is it a sign of another sti, and what test or issue would you suggest? There is also no itchiness or burning. (This does happen on occasion, although it is very unusual)

Hello, I want to know about my periods not coming. So last month Jan 2024, I engaged in unprotected intercourse roughly a week before my actual period dates then took an iPill. After few days yes my normal periods did come which was 28th January. Now February 2024 is gone and I haven't got my periods for this month

Female | 23

Missing your period may seem concerning, but it happens sometimes. The iPill can affect menstrual cycles. Reasons include stress, hormones, or being pregnant. Look for tiredness and nausea - they could signal pregnancy. Taking a test gives clarity.

I had my periods on the 4th till the 6th, since then I've been spotting. This has never happened, is it normal?

Female | 41

Irregular spotting either before or after a period is the result of different factors including hormonal changes or stress, any kind of infection, or pregnancy. It is better to visit a gynecologist for detailed examination of the root of this problem diagnosed and treated.

When is best to have intercourse to conceive with a 26days cycle my last period was September 26 to 28

Female | 23

Your ovulation model shows a 26-day cycle. The period between 26 and 28 of September is the best time for you to conceive around October 10-11. This is when you are most likely ovulating which means an egg is ready to meet sperm. Observing signs like increased vaginal discharge or gentle discomfort in your lower abdomen which is also called ovulation pain will help you in conceiving. Get the cycle record improved to track faulty periods, thus increasing the odds of successful fertilization.
