How to manage prolonged heavy periods in perimenopause?

My mother is in her perimenopause state and her periods are lasting till more than 2 months and recently she's facing heavy period flows. So my question is till how much time did her heavy flow stop or is there any medication regarding this because there is many functions are to attend.
